St. Maria Goretti was twelve when a young man demanded she have sex with him. Maria refused, and he stabbed her. As she lay dying in the hospital, she forgave him, and prayed that he would be with her in Heaven.
He was at her canonization, after 27 years of imprisonment, a convert to the faith by Maria’s prayers. He gave evidence for her canonization, and became a Capuchin lay brother. She is a Patroness of Youth, and because her attacker was a pornography user, she is an important saint for purity in these modern times.
