Sue began practicing art early and by second grade she "knew" she was an artist. Drawing has always been a part of her life and she worked to improve her skills all through high school, where she explored different media, including pen and ink drawing, sculpture, and batik. Upon beginning her studies at the University of Nebraska, she spent a lot of time in the pottery studio before making the transition over to the sculpture studio, where she excelled in figure sculpting.

Her love of color and imagery caused her to delve into painting and printmaking, which, through her interest in artists like Matisse, Chagall, and early Christian iconographers, took on an abstract expressionist style blended with eastern iconograpy. She recieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from UNL.
Sue has had many gallery exhibitions and shows, completed numerous commissions, done magazine illustration and had her art on a scale ranging from small holy cards to large outdoor murals.  Her prints are now done on archival material, which excites her as it means her art has the potential to do evangelization for two or three hundred years.

"Artists of the world, may your many different paths all lead to that infinite Ocean of beauty where wonder becomes awe, exhilaration, unspeakable joy." Pope John Paul II
Her art making is now an almost unconscious work of the heart, like a meditation that comes forth through color.  The early influences are still there but the style has taken on a life of its own.
